The Attendance Status Details window allows users to enter additional details related to the selected student’s attendance status. This lesson provides details on each status.
Present
- Present is the default status for attendance.
- The Present Attendance Status allows teachers to enter a note regarding the student. Select the Free-Text Note field to add notes.
- The Minutes display at the bottom right shows the student’s actual/scheduled class minutes. Select the Minutes icon to record time out of class mid-period.
- Select Save to apply any changes.
Absent
- Select the Attendance Status of Absent.
- The Absent Attendance Status allows teachers to select an Absent Reason from the drop-down menu.
- Check the Note or Verified checkboxes to indicate that a note was received or the absence was verified.
- Select n the Free-Text Note field to add notes.
- The Minutes display at the bottom right shows the student’s actual/scheduled class minutes.
- Select Save to apply changes.
The selections of an Absent Reason and Note/Verified checkboxes are permissions-based.
Tardy / Dismissed
- Select the Tardy/Dismissed attendance status.
- The Tardy box is checked by default. The Tardy/Dismissed time defaults to one minute after the beginning of class. Select a Tardy Reason from the menu.
- To select another time that a Tardy student arrived, select the In: field’s Time icon to open a menu listing each minute between the Start and End Times of the class.
- Uncheck Tardy and check Dismissed to indicate that the selected student was released early from class, then edit the Out: field’s time (if needed). Both options can be selected.
- Check the Note and/or Verified checkboxes to indicate that a note was received or the tardy was verified.
- Select the Free-Text Note field to add notes.
- The minutes display at the bottom right shows the student’s actual/scheduled class minutes.
The selections of an Absent Reason and Note/Verified checkboxes are permissions-based.
Mid-Period Attendance Event
- When a student leaves class mid-period (whether their status is Present or Tardy), open the Attendance Status Details window and click the Minutes icon to record their time out of class. The Event Log opens, allowing users to record the time a student leaves and returns to class mid-period. The period’s Start and End times are displayed at the top of the Event Log
- Select the Add Log Event icon to add a Mid-Period Attendance Event.
- Select the Out field’s Time icon to select the Out time.
- Select the X to delete an event.
- The student’s actual class minutes will reflect the time out of class.
- Select Save to apply the details.
