Students in P-Tech Programs
Students in P-Tech Programs do not graduate using the typical Graduation process, since their program is an extended 6-year program. Instead, they are assigned the Program Service Code (4026) P-Tech Early College High School OR (4027) NYC P-Tech Grades 9-14 Early College and Career High School, and handled as described below.
During grades 9–11, students in the program are grade-advanced in the normal fashion.
Students who leave the program before completing the requirements for a Regents diploma simply have their P-Tech status closed with the applicable End Date.
Students who complete the requirements for a Regents diploma, and are EXITING the program and the school, are transferred using the School Type: Unknown and the Transfer Reason: (Grad-799) Graduated (earned a Regents or local diploma), with the appropriate Credential Type Code, Career Pathway Code, and Post-Graduation Plan.
These students are then re-enrolled in the P-Tech School to complete the remainder of the P-Tech program, using the Entry Reason: (0011) Enrollment in Building or Grade.
Students in their 5th or 6th year who exit the program before completion are transferred using the School Type: Unknown and the Transfer Reason: (0068) Exited Extended Integrated HS Program After Fulfilling HS Grad Req.
Students who complete all three parts of the program (high school diploma, workplace experience, and Associates Degree or credits toward an Associates Degree) are transferred using the School Type: Unknown and the Transfer Reason: (0067) Completed Extended Integrated HS Program.
P-Tech Program Duration and Transfer Students
If a student transfers districts while continuing in a P-Tech program, use the date the student originally began their P-Tech program as the Start Date of their 4206/4207 Program Service Code, even if that date is prior to their enrollment in the current district. This ensures the correct P-Tech Duration is reported for the student.
