On the following pages are several scenarios for Elementary and High School scheduling, with the Periods and Time Equivalency Schedules for each.
Scenario 1: Elementary Schedule with Minute Blocks
The traditional Elementary Schedule (one full-day period) has been modified to add Bell-Time Periods for scheduling specials and Instructional Blocks (Minute Block Periods) for core courses.
The defined Bell-Time Periods are 35 minutes long with 5 minutes passing time between periods, and 15 minute morning and afternoon “homeroom” periods have been included. Minute Block Periods have defined length, but not defined Start/End Times.
Note: Lunch periods can be scheduled in the same manner as specials, lasting part/all of the 35-minute period, with recess following immediately afterwards.
The Periods for the Elementary Schedule would be set up as follows:

Tip: If only one subject area (ELA, Math, etc.) will be scheduled in each Minute Block period, use the Subject as the Time Equivalency Display name and/or Time Equivalency Description.
Scenario 2: Traditional HS Schedule
The Traditional High School Schedule has a nine period day, with Homeroom at the beginning of the day and five minutes passing time between 45-minute periods. Period 99 is used as the traditional zero period for Homeroom, and lunch periods are the same length as other periods.
Tip: Using the highest number period for Homeroom allows users to easily add additional periods at a later time as needed.

Scenario 3: Three Short Lunch Periods Schedule

Scenario 4: Single Period Modular Lunch Schedule
This schedule has a nine period day with modular lunch, and 5 minutes passing time between periods. The Module has a 30-minute lunch period and two 45-minute instructional periods, with 20 minutes between each lunch for cafeteria staff to clean up.
The period schedule was set up with equal length periods. Five minutes was chosen for the periods because it is the greatest common factor (5 minute passing, 30 minute lunch and 45 minute instructional periods).
All students follow the same schedule for periods 1-36. The modular lunch period begins at period 37, and all students are back on the same schedule as of period 63.
Note: The vertical ellipses in the Period columns indicate that some 5-minute periods have been omitted for space considerations.
Note: Passing time is included as Periods only during the Module, because it is part of the concurrent instructional periods.
The Periods for this Schedule would be set up as follows:

Scenario 5: Block Periods with Different Day Block Lengths
The Single Period Modular Lunch Schedule has been modified for different day patterns. It is arranged on Day A in four instructional blocks plus lunch and on Day B in five instructional blocks plus lunch.
Note: Passing time is included as Periods for the entire schedule, because it is part of the instructional periods on different days.
Note: The vertical ellipses in the Period columns indicate that some 5-minute periods have been omitted for space considerations.
Note: This schedule has also been set up using five minute periods.
