Each student needs to have a Scheduling School and Scheduling Grade assigned in order for the Scheduling process to take place, with the exception of students in the district’s highest grade level who are moving on. This lesson outlines setting scheduling schools and grades using the Feeder Patterns and Mass Update Scheduling School options. .
Before you Begin
eSchoolData recommends the following steps for setting students’ Scheduling School and Scheduling Grade:
- Feeder Patterns - set building-wide parameters
- Mass Update Scheduling School - mass update retentions / exceptions to Feeder Patterns
- Student Profile > Profile tab - update individual students
Feeder Patterns can, but do not automatically, override students’ existing Scheduling School and Scheduling Grade information, while Mass Update Scheduling School ALWAYS overrides existing information.
Feeder Patterns
- Go to District.
- Choose Schools.
- Select Feeder Pattern.
- Be sure to select a School from the menu, not the district level. Feeder Patterns should be established for all schools within the district.
- Use filters as needed to search for specific existing Feeder Patters. Select Search to narrow down results.
- Select New to create a Feeder Pattern. When creating a new pattern, a list of Current Grades appear in a table. The Scheduling School values default to the Current School and the Scheduling Grade values default to the next higher grade level.
- Feeder Patterns display in a table when created.
Mass Update Scheduling School
- Go to System.
- Choose Scheduling.
- Mass Update Scheduling opens by default.
- Use the Filter Options to narrow down potential students. Then select Next.
- Use the Select Students tab to select the students that are exceptions to the Feeder Pattern. Then select Next.
- Choose the Scheduling School and Scheduling Grade for the selected students on the Update Students tab. Then select Submit to save the changes.
