The Quick Scan feature enables users to process Late Arrivals, Early Dismissals, and Midday events more efficiently. This document outlines the specific settings for Google Chrome on Windows OS that must be enabled.
In order to take advantage of Quick Scan, schools need to have:
- Set up Quick Scan
- Student ID cards with barcodes
- A functioning barcode reader/scanner (a standard USB scanner works fine)
- A printer (local or on the network)
An Auto Print function is also available that prints a page with the student’s information, schedule and Late Arrival event details, which the student can take as a late pass.
Please also take note of the required permissions listed below.
Required Permissions:
Menu Level: Student > Attendance > Attendance Profiles
Module Level: Attendance - Late Arrival (Quick Scan)
Google Chrome Settings
To auto-print Quick Scan receipts for Chrome browsers running on Windows OS, Kiosk Printing must be implemented (requires Chrome 18.0.1 or higher). To implement Kiosk Printing:
- Right-select the Chrome browser icon on the desktop.
- Select Properties.
- In the Target field, after Chrome.exe (outside any quotes), add the URL of the eSD login page:
--kiosk-printing https://esd.eschooldata.com/Login.aspx. This may vary from the URL shown if the district is supported by one of the Regional Information Centers. If Chrome’s Kiosk Printing hides the browser tabs, use Control + Tab to switch between tabs. - Select OK to save the changes.
If the Chrome browser icon is not already on the desktop, then select the Start Menu, find the Google Chrome listing, right-select it, and select Send to Desktop (create shortcut).
Additional Notes
These settings should be enabled only on the machine(s) with the bar code reader and printer installed. It is recommended that there are at least two machines and users with the ability to use Quick Scan in case one user is out of the office.
