Once the Calendar and Bell Time schedules have been created, the Day Codes must be generated for each relevant school building. Users can set up Day Codes as either a rolling progression (regardless of the day of the week) or by week name (individual days of the week).
Required Permissions:
Menu: District > System Codes
Module: Calendar and Attendance
Where to Start
- Go to District.
- Select Calendar.
- Choose Setup Daycode from the menu.
All calendar events where school will be closed (Legal Holidays, Superintendent Conference Days, etc.) should be entered before generating Day Codes. Day Codes will not be assigned to dates designated with these calendar events. Calendar events added after Day Codes are generated may require Day Codes to be regenerated.
Setup by Daycode
- Select the Setup by Daycode tab.
- Select the appropriate year in the Scheduling Year dropdown.
- Select Search.
- Using the radio buttons, select the Day Code that will be in effect on the first day of school in the first semester of the school year.
- For each subsequent semester, users can either select a Day Code to begin a new Day Code pattern or select Follow day code from above semester to continue the existing Day Code pattern.
- Select or deselect Exclude Weekend, as needed. When it is selected, the day code generation process will skip weekends (Saturday and Sunday) for each selected semester.
- Select Generate to run the process.
Setup by Week Name
- Select the Setup by Week Name tab.
- Select the Scheduling Year from the menu.
- Select Search.
- Use the dropdowns to select the Day Code to be assigned for each day of the week.
- Select the semester(s) to which those assignments should be applied.
- Select Generate to run the process.
Generation Options Button
There are times when a school may need Learning Codes to be assigned based on a Day Code rotation and alternate bell times to be assigned based on the day of the week or vice versa. When this happens, use the Generation Options button to designate the pattern needed.
Regenerating Day Codes automatically resets all future Alternate Bell Times to the DEFAULT Bell Time. The only exception is if the Alternate Bell Time has been flagged as a default bell time and applied to a Semester Pattern, Day Pattern, Week Day, or Exceptional Day. Future Alternate Bell Times that are not applied to a Semester Pattern, Day Pattern, Week Day, or Exceptional Day must be reassigned after regenerating Day Codes.
