Actions can be added to discipline records to set a discipline action related to the even. This lesson shows users how to assign, view, and add actions.
Where to Start
- Go to Student.
- Select Student Profile.
- Filter as needed and Search for a student.
- Select the Student ID to access the Student Profile.
Assign an Action
- Go to the Discipline tab of the Student Profile.
- Select the Assign Action +.
- Select the Action Type from the drop down menu and enter the Description.
- Select the Action Status, which defaults to Temporary. When a Discipline Action is set to Permanent, the End Date defaults to the end of the current school year, and the Number of Days is automatically calculated based on that End Date.
- Set a Date for the Action.
- Set the Authority for the event. This menu consists of roles. Once selected, the Authority Name menu populates with users that have that role.
- All other fields are optional. Enter as needed. Select Save to assign the action.
When the student is assigned to In School Suspension or Out of School Suspension, a Create Attendance Event checkbox is displayed, allowing users to also create an Attendance Event for the assigned discipline action.
When Create Attendance Event is checked, a Reason menu is displayed, allowing users to define the Reason for the Attendance Event.
When the Action is saved, a full-day Attendance Event will be created, spanning the days of the assigned ISS/OSS action (Begin Date to End Date, or Begin Date plus Number of Days, when Number of Days 1).
View and Edit an Action
From the Discipline tab of the Student Profile, the Action assigned to an Incident appears directly below the Incident.
- Select the View icon to review the Action details. The Print icon is available from this window.
- Select Edit to make updates to the Action. Be sure to save after making any changes.
